US doesn’t rule out extending financial sanctions against Russia
WASHINGTON, Sep 28 (PRIME) -- Washington does not rule out the possibility of extending financial sanctions against Russia, White House Press Secretary Josh Earnest told reporters late on Tuesday.
The U.S. did not remove the possibility of additional financial sanctions from its agenda, he said when asked about possible sanctions against Russia due to Syria issues.
The U.S. usually coordinates its actions with partners and does not try to implement unilateral sanctions. He did not disclose any Washington’s plans on possible new sanctions against Russia.
In 2014, relations between Russia and the West deteriorated to their worse since the Cold War due to a military conflict in Ukraine. The West introduced sanctions against some Russian individuals and firms and further against the energy and banking sectors. In response, Russia limited food imports from some countries, including the U.S., the E.U., Canada, Australia, and Norway.
